Boundary Bound State Effects in Quantum Wires
نویسندگان
چکیده
We investigate the impact of boundary bound states on the dynamics of quantum fields, which propagate on star graphs modeling quantum wires. These states are localized in the vertex of the graph and decay exponentially in the bulk. We demonstrate that their contribution is completely fixed by causality (local commutativity), which represents a key point of our investigation. The boundary bound states drive the system out of equilibrium and break down the invariance under time translations. The influence of these phenomena on the conductance properties of the Luttinger liquid is studied in detail. DRM-MD approach for bound electron states in semiconductor nano-wires
Using the boundary element dual reciprocity method-multi domain (DRM-MD), bound electron states and the corresponding wave functions in semiconductor quantum wires embedded in a matrix were considered. The single circular and rectangular as well as the two near circular quantum wires were analysed. In the case of two coupled quantum wires, the dependence of the resulting wave function and eigen...
متن کاملCurved planar quantum wires with Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions
The spectral properties of curved quantum wires with Dirichlet boundary condition were widely investigated (e.g. [1], [2], [3]). It was shown that any small curvature of the tube in dimensions 2 and 3 produces at least one positive eigenvalue below the essential spectrum threshold. The problem of the existence of such eigenvalues in the straight quantum waveguides with a combination of Dirichle...
متن کاملInhomogeneous boundary effects in semiconductor quantum wires
Abslract Boundary effects play an essential role in determining the physical properties of semiconductor quantum wires. Additional features come into play when one considers inhomogeneous boundaries, i.e. wires whose widths are functions of distance along the length of the wire. We show that, in the adiabatic approximation (which assumes that the boundary patential fluctuation effects, or equiv...
متن کاملDynamics of entangled quantum optical system in independent media
We study the dynamics of two three-level atoms interacting with independent bosonic Lorentzian reservoirs at zero temperature. Such systems can be created in far astronomical objects. Quantum mechanical behaviour of these particles can produce detectable effects on the spectroscopic identifications of these objects, if such behaviour remain stable during the interaction with their media. It is ...
متن کاملBound states in waveguides and bent quantum wires. I. Applications to waveguide systems
It has been shown that in quantum wires which contain bends there will be one or more bound states for electrons placed in such systems. Bound states have been observed in quantum wires, but detailed mapping of such states is difficult. However, there is a one-to-one correspondence between wave functions of free electrons in two-dimensional ~2D! systems, and electric fields of TE modes in recta...
